Caruso Joins Thunder, Giddey Heads to Bulls in Trade
Oklahoma City Acquires All-Defensive Guard
The Oklahoma City Thunder have acquired defensive ace Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Josh Giddey, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Bulls Bolster Offense with Giddey
The Chicago Bulls, in turn, have traded two-time NBA All-Defensive Team guard Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Josh Giddey, the teams announced on Friday.
Caruso's Defensive Prowess
Caruso, known for his relentless defense and high basketball IQ, will provide a much-needed defensive boost to the Thunder. The 28-year-old guard has averaged 1.8 steals and 0.7 blocks per game over the past two seasons.
Giddey's Rising Star
Giddey, a 6'8" guard from Australia, was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The 19-year-old averaged 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game for the Thunder last season.
Strategic Moves for Both Teams
The trade appears to be a strategic move for both teams. The Bulls bolster their offense with Giddey, while the Thunder add a defensive stalwart in Caruso. The deal also allows Giddey to join fellow Australian Ben Simmons in Chicago.
